Young blood and corporation mouse?
Working more than 8 hours a day but you still want a life?
You don’t know what to do with your life?
Do you have free time on hand? Kids?
Here’s a bunch of questions that all of us relate to.
And getting back control of our free time is the thing to do asap.
If you are in your late 20s or early 30s, I am totally there too, so I know what you are going through. And I know I am trying my best not to come home and be a couch potato. That is why I rarely come straight home after work. It keeps me away from being 100% lazy.
I figured out that I used to write in my maternal language and as a result I could not connect to other humans having the same issues as I and that is a shame.
So today, being all stuck at home, with a serious flu I thought to put out there some practical advice for anyone who needs a quick fix for reading.
Life does not stop after work, nor should it be just work as we do not live only for the weekends. In truth, there are some weeks, SOME weeks – my God!, in which it is only Monday and my though goes straight to Friday at 4 PM when I am out that door and getting into some days off. If I start my weeks with these thoughts, I know I am in for a looong, very looong week.
Thus, I figured I should start doing something productive immediately after work hours. I usually book my gym hours on Monday and Wednesday, so I have just the time to get to the gym, change and get to work, work, work, work, work. This way I don’t have time to get bored and be tempted to ditch the class. That’s why my gym is reasonably close to my workplace and I can be there in the allotted time.
On Tuesdays and on Thursdays I used to practice my hobby – makeup, doing classes to master this trait. But once I finished and graduated, I had to replace it with something else. If you are like me, being ok with meeting new people, if you don’t mind sometimes being the center of attention I suggest finding a class to perfect either your speeches, your interpersonal relations or something like this. If you are shy, confronting your fears is the way to go. I got the chance to sign up for an acting class and in 6 months from now I will be giving an on stage performance, with an audience. How crazy is that?
Besides the formal acting university, there’s an alternative school in town, where you do not have to be a professional to learn about acting. And it might surprise you that people all ages and backgrounds have applied to this. Under 20, over 40, they’ve got everyone covered.
So that leaves us with one more weekday – which is usually friday. FriYAY! Relax take it easy, or don’t, whichever you prefer. For a light fix on Friday, learning a new language on different apps could be an idea. Languages develop and modify our ways of thinking and you never know when it becomes relevant and useful for you. I know some people who taught themselves a new language so it’s not impossible, however it takes more motivation than any other thing. At least for me.
Oh and I forgot to mention, cancel your TV subscription. That is what I did – the internet is so huge and full of every information you need that watching TV is not a priority anymore, we’re past the 70s, 80s, 90s.
So choose what you would like to learn, or maybe a hobby to explore, move around and keep your body healthy. Just do it, you are going to spend that money on something else, maybe even less useful. You deserve and you should invest in yourself.
We’re creating our own reality and we should make it good!
